[Address at State Capitol]
Dear Senator [Name] or Representative [Name]:
I am writing as a concerned constituent regarding NAME OF BILL, INCLUDING
BILL NUMBER. This bill is coming up for a vote on the NAME OF COMMITTEE
OR FLOOR VOTE on DATE and I am asking that you vote yes on this bill.
Passage of a State Midwifery Act will greatly improve the quality
of life for myself and my family. Why?
Our
area is... [IT IS GOOD TO ADD SOMETHING SPECIFIC ABOUT THE CHARACTER
OF THE VOTERS IN THE DISTRICT. As an example: The nearest hospital
is in the next county and there are no obstetricians practicing in
this county. I am a young mother with a toddler and expecting a second
child in the fall. Because our county lacks basic maternity care services
I must travel more than 1 hour to visit a health care facility or
physician. However, if the State Midwifery Act were passed I would
be able to use a local CPM for maternity care.]
If
this bill does not pass, not only will I be unable to have access
to this type of care, but all the citizens of STATE will be denied
access to this group of caregivers. Your yes vote at the committee
meeting next week will help move this bill toward law, which would
greatly improve the quality of life for constituents in your district.
Thank
you for taking the time to read of my concerns regarding Bill #.
Sincerely,
[Your Name]
